Smiths Triumph at the Isle of Man TT

Smiths_signed_01Smiths Triumph have headed to the Isle of Man in preparation for this year’s TT races.

The team visited the island for the first time in 2014, running highly-experienced TT veterans Michael Rutter and Gary Johnson on race prepared Daytona 675R s. In Smiths’ very first race on the 37 mile road circuit Gary Johnson took victory in race 1 of the 2014 Supersport class. Unfortunately, due to a crash in another class, Gary was unable to compete in the second supersport race, so the team returned to the UK with unfinished business.

Roll on a year and Smiths are back on the Island, ready to take on the supersport class with a new two-rider team – Aussie Dave Johnson and Britain’s very own Guy Martin. Always the bridesmaid so far in his TT career, Martin is looking to the 675R to bring him his first-ever TT win.

A two week affair in total, TT practice week starts tomorrow with final qualifying on Saturday 6th June and racing following from 8th June. The competition schedule is jam-packed with nine races across various classes but the ones to keep an eye out for are:

Monday 8th June
10.45am TT Supersport Race 1 (4 laps)
Wednesday 10th June
12.00pm TT Supersport Race 2 (4 laps)

We’ll keep you updated on the team’s progress over the next couple of weeks via TOL but you can catch highlights of both races on ITV4 at 9pm in the evening on the race day.

ITV4 is on Freeview channel 28, cable channel 117 and Sky channel 120. You can also catch up with the action through the ITV Player at
