One of our customers, Giles Bowell, recently took his Triumph Thruxton R on a tour of Spain and Portugal. He kindly sent us these photos and some information about the trip.
Giles takes up the story: “Me and a mate crossed from Plymouth to Santander, rode into the Picos mountains down to Portugal, along part of the Douro valley with a couple of days spent in the Sierra da Estrella National Park where the mountains reach up to 2200 metres. We then rode back up into Spain via Potes and the Panes Gorge, another loop around the Picos ending up in Bilbao for a return ferry to Portsmouth. We had eight days riding and two days travelling covering around 1800 trouble free miles.
“The Thruxton certainly created a lot of interest with most riders on the ferry saying I’d return a cripple but I can vouch for the comfort even after one day of 425km’s, I think it proves you don’t need an adventure or touring bike to go travelling.”
