Thanks to Rina Lawrence for sending in this story and photo from her travels in France and Spain.
“Hullo from Riders Rest in Theil, France.
“A friend, Chrissie, and I are just coming to the end of a 3 week tour of Spain and France on our Triumphs – mine a Bonny America trike conversion and Chrissie on the new Street Twin. I had to have my America converted 3 years ago when my disability became too severe and it was a case of giving up or triking. I am 70 and Chrissie is 66 – she took up biking at 60!!
“We started in Bilbao then up and over the Picos de Europas across Spain to the Costa Blanca (Benitachell). After a few days there we rode up the coast to Barcelona, where we spent two nights. We visited the Ace Cafe and met two of the owners. On the following day after three attempts to get out of Barcelona (lol), we rode across to a place in the Spanish Pyrenees called Isabena Bungalow & Camping, in Huesca, which is highly recommended for bikers. They have bungalows, static mobile homes, huts, superior camping facilities with electric hookups, shower blocks and washing machines, a full sized pool and a bar/restaurant.
“After a night there we ride through the French Pyrenees and came here, to the Riders Rest, a bikers’ only B&B owned and run by a smashing British couple, Rob and Mandy. They are located in a tiny hamlet and have secure lockups for the bikes, home cooking utilising local farm produce, a swimming pool and offer both escorted rides and/or an e-book of good local rides.
“Both our bikes are from Jack Lilley – mine from Ashford and Chrissie’s from Romford
“Here’s a photo of us taken at the new Barcelona Ace Cafe last week and look forward to Triumph Day at the Ace Cafe on the 11th June.”
